Yesterday was the first time we had to really shoot some action. You never really realize how important your camera's fps (frames per second) matters until you're shooting some kind of fast paced activity.
We were scheduled to shoot a session that involved swimming and diving. During the session I found that the 6 frames a second that my camera shoots was barely enough. I got some great shots, but it left me wondering what I was missing in between those frames. My other biggest worry was keeping focus. Thankfully, my camera has 51 auto focus points which did an outstanding job at keeping focus on my subject. The point I'm trying to make is that even though I say that gear doesn't matter, in this case it really did. There was no way I could've done this shoot with a camera that had less focus points or wasn't capable of shooting at a hight fps. 6 fps isn't very high, but it got the job done beautifully.
Anyway, the shoot was a difficult one which had Kenia and I on our toes the entire time, but it was a great way for us to try something new. I feel like, overall, the experience really helped us grow, and I'm very happy with the photos that I captured. I really want to practice more with these types of shoots because nothing is better than a great action shot.
Probably my favorite picture from the shoot!
